How To Maintain The Impeller When Using The Slurry Pump To Reduce Wear?

The use of slurry pumps is becoming more and more widespread, and inevitably, accessories usually wear during operation. Measures are often taken to improve the internal flow state of the pump, enhance the wear resistance of the runner material, and improve the surface finish of the runner to reduce wear. According to tribological classification, this wear belongs to two-body wear, where corrosive hard solid particles and the surface of the runner component form friction pairs. Their respective characteristics and contact surfaces determine the type and degree of wear of the runner component. Therefore, the main factors causing wear of accessory impellers can be summarized as follows:

  1. Properties of solids in the slurry.

  2. The movement characteristics of the solid and liquid phases in the pump, that is, the contact between the solid-liquid phase and the surface of the flow path component.

  3. Material characteristics of the pump's runner component.

In order to maintain good working efficiency of the slurry pump, it is closely related to the maintenance of accessories. So what should we pay attention to in processing?

  1. When rotating the impeller, the gap between the machine tool, tool holder and workpiece should be adjusted to the smallest possible position to ensure that the entire machine tool processing system has sufficient rigidity. The chamfer of the workpiece should be as large as possible so that the turning tip can cut in and out smoothly during the turning process, thereby minimizing the impact on the tool tip and reducing cracks in the workpiece as much as possible.

  2. A reasonable cutting tool geometric angle is conducive to improving the durability of the slurry pump. The grinding wheel should be stable and sharp during grinding, and the saw blade should be ground into a straight line without serrations.

How to Select the Inlet and Outlet Pipe Diameters for Slurry Pumps
This article focuses on the selection of inlet and outlet pipe diameters for slurry pumps, aiming to prevent cavitation, avoid blockage, and reduce system energy consumption. It outlines the fundamental design principle that the inlet pipe diameter shall not be smaller than the pump suction diameter, while the outlet pipe diameter shall be matched to flow rate and head requirements. By integrating slurry characteristics, pump performance parameters, and pipeline configuration, the article presents practical pipe sizing approaches and operation-based verification methods, providing technical guidance for stable and reliable slurry pumping systems.
