The slurry pumps we often use are a type of centrifugal pump. It mainly drives the slurry mixture to rotate through the high-speed rotating impeller blades, and throws out the slurry to achieve the purpose of transportation.
The small flow area we are talking about here refers to less than 30% of the rated flow, that is, the flow rate of a large flow pump is very small when it is actually running. So what are the hazards of running like this? Let's take a look.
1. Long-term low flow operation will increase the temperature inside the pump, which is easy to cause cavitation and damage the impeller.
Solution: Install a return pipe and use the return pipe valve to control the actual flow rate to prevent the pump from running under low flow conditions, so as to achieve the purpose of protection.
2. Long-term low flow operation, the slurry pump is always in a state of pressure holding, causing excessive vibration of the pump and shortening its life. The deviation from the reasonable working area of the pump is too large, which is bound to cause damage to the pump.
Solution: Cut the impeller. This is the most economical and practical way.
3. Long-term low flow operation will reduce the efficiency of the slurry pump and waste electricity.
