Common Problems During Feeding of Slurry Pumps

• Blockage of Hard Sediments in the Volute

For such failures, the following measures should be taken:

- Stop the pump, open the pump cover, and excavate the blocked sediments.

- Inspect the inlet and outlet pipelines of the slurry pump, and clean them thoroughly.

- Restart the pump and check if it operates normally.  

• Blockage of Inlet/Outlet Pipelines or Impeller

This type of failure reduces the pump's flow rate and pressure. Handling measures include:

- Stop the pump, open the pump cover, and check if the inlet/outlet pipelines and impeller are blocked.

- If blocked, clean the pipelines and impeller thoroughly.

- If the impeller is severely worn, replace it with a new one.

- Restart the pump and check its normal operation.

• Air Leakage at the Packing Port

This failure deteriorates the pump's sealing performance. Handling measures include:

- Check if the packing gland is tightly pressed.

- If the packing is severely worn, replace it with new packing.

- Inspect the sealing water circulation; repair any blockages or issues.

- Restart the pump and verify its normal operation.

During operation, various factors may cause different failures in slurry pumps. Accurate diagnosis of failure causes and timely implementation of effective measures ensure the normal operation of the slurry pump.
