Why Does The Submerged Slurry Pump Burn Out? How Does It Drain Oil?

Why does the slurry pump burn out under the liquid? How does it drain oil?

In recent years, old customers often ask me why the slurry pump under the liquid burns out? The first thing that comes to mind is that the customer has used it improperly. Our pumps have been shipped after strict inspection and are of excellent quality. As long as they are used normally, they will generally not have any problems after two or three years of use. So why it burns out? It must be caused by improper use. Here are some tips for you to prevent the pump from burning out due to these factors:

1. When the head is too low or the head is higher than the actual requirements, it will cause a large flow rate and a current rise. At this time, the small outlet valve can be closed to increase the resistance to control the current.

2. Generally, water cooling is used to dissipate heat. If the motor leaks out of the water surface and there is no water cooling, the motor temperature will rise, which can easily cause the motor to burn out.

3. If hot water within 80℃ is transported, you must use a hot water pump. When using it, you must connect external tap water to cool it, otherwise the motor will burn due to the excessive temperature of the medium.

4. If there is no corresponding water leakage sensor, the seal should be replaced by the slurry pump under the maintenance solution regularly.

5. If the power cord is not in contact well, it will also cause the motor to burn.

6. The circuit should be checked at all times to prevent burnout.

7. If you suddenly feel that its appearance is a little hot during use, you can temporarily shut down and cool down.

Also, check more when wiring.*, Under-liquid slurry pumps have long been used in the suction of various oil residues, dirty liquids, mud, mortars, flowing sand, and flowing sludge in urban sewage drainage channels, as well as fluids containing mud and sand slag and corrosive liquids.

The oil discharge operation of the slurry pump under the liquid is also required. Here is a description of its oil discharge operation method.

1. If you want to drain all the oil in the pump box, you can unscrew the oil drain plug at the bottom of the box to drain the oil.

2. When it is discharged from oil, the height of the top plate of the liquid level spacer oil tank should not exceed 30 mm to ensure the smoothness and cooling of the bearings in the pump. When the volume of the jack working chamber is too large, another oil tank needs to be installed to ensure that the liquid level after the oil is discharged is not less than 100 mm to avoid emptying.

3. After the speed-regulating slurry pump is first run for 500 hours, the oil should be changed and the oil tank and oil filter should be cleaned. The oil quality should be tested by visual inspection and testing. When the oil quality deteriorates, the oil should be changed in time. It is necessary to clean the oil tank and oil filter together when changing oil. If there is metal chips or water in the oil, factors should be found and problems should be eliminated.

4. In a short time when the liquid level is lowered, the oil splashing of the bearing against the oil and the plunger spring is smooth. The oil tank and the oil filter under the pump are made of 230 mesh/inch copper wire mesh. The oil filter mesh should be cleaned frequently to prevent blockage. When used, the oil temperature of the oil tank must not exceed 60℃. Appropriate measures should be taken to cool if necessary.

The above is the detailed introduction of the oil drain operation method of the slurry pump. Generally, the equipment is not allowed to regularly check the quality of oil and change the oil during maintenance. Therefore, the introduction of the above content will definitely be very helpful to you. However, when we are performing oil drainage, we must pay attention to checking whether the oil is drained clean.

Vertical vs Horizontal Slurry Pumps: Key Differences, Features, and Applications

Slurry pumps are a type of centrifugal pump designed to transport mixtures of liquid and solid particles, such as ore slurry, sand, and mud. Based on structural orientation and installation method, slurry pumps are mainly classified into vertical slurry pumps and horizontal slurry pumps.

While some believe the difference lies only in installation orientation, the reality is more nuanced. These two pump types differ significantly in structure, working conditions, maintenance, and application scenarios. This guide provides a clear, technical comparison to support proper pump selection.
