The Slurry Pump Sleeve Should Be Replaced When It Is Worn To This Extent.

It is undeniable that the application range of slurry pumps is indeed very wide, and they can be found in transportation, water conservancy, coal, electricity, metallurgy and other important infrastructure industries. Wear will occur after long-term use, especially in the process of transporting solid mixtures such as silt, ash, and concentrate. The wear of the runner components is even more serious. If the wear is severe, some problems will occur during work.

The function of the sleeve is to protect the pump shaft, so that the friction between the filler and the pump shaft becomes the friction between the filler and the sleeve. Therefore, the sleeve is a vulnerable part of the pump. If it wears to a certain level, it means it needs to be replaced. Let’s learn some simple test methods below.

  1. The friction between the outer ring of the slurry pump sleeve and the filler box filler will produce multiple ring wear marks at different depths on the outer ring of the sleeve. These wear marks will affect the tightness of the axial seal, resulting in a decrease in the outlet pressure of the pump during operation.

  2. The wear of the sleeve can be measured by a micrometer or a vernier caliper, and the measured dimensions are compared with the standard outer diameter for inspection. Generally, the depth of circular wear marks on the outer circumference of the sleeve shall not exceed 0.5mm.

  3. For severely worn slurry pumps, it is recommended to replace the shaft sleeve in time to ensure the sealing of the axial seal.
