A collection of common problems with slurry pumps for customers to read. CNSME Slurry Pump Company has received feedback from customers before asking our technicians what issues should be paid attention to when using slurry pumps? In fact, slurry pumps are suitable for a variety of complex working conditions. The working characteristics of slurry pumps are that the slurry processed mostly contains various solid particles, which requires us to know more about the precautions for use in daily operations. Today we will talk about the precautions for use of slurry pump ore dressing.1. Maintenance of shaft seals for slurry pump ore dressing. The shaft seal pump should regularly check the seal water pressure and water volume when dressing the slurry pump, and always keep a small amount of clean water flowing along the axis. Regularly adjust the filler gland, check the filler and replace the filler regularly. The shaft seal water pressure and the shaft seal water volume should meet the above requirements (shaft seal inspection). For secondary impeller shaft sealing pumps equipped with oil cups, oil should be regularly filled with oil cups to lubricate the internal filler or lip sealing ring.2. Adjustment of impeller for slurry pump ore dressing In order to ensure the pump operation, the gap between the impeller and the front guard plate must be adjusted in time. The gap between the metal-lined pump impeller and the front guard plate is between 0.5-1mm, and the gap between the rubber-lined pump impeller and the front and rear sheath must be equal.3. Use bearing lubrication when slurry pump ore dressing. When slurry pump ore dressing, the operating life will be longer if the assembly is correct, the lubricating oil is appropriate, and the maintenance is timely. Maintenance personnel should regularly inspect the bearing components and check the conditions of bearings and greases. The maintenance interval generally does not exceed 12 months.Slurry pumps are widely used in important basic departments such as mining, metallurgy, coal, hydraulics and transportation. During the process of transporting solid-liquid mixtures such as slurry, cinders and mud, they are impacted by solid particles, and their overflow parts cause severe wear, resulting in a shortening of the service life of the slurry pump and affecting the normal operation of the equipment. Therefore, reducing the wear of the slurry pump overflow parts is the key in actual production.Generally, in practical applications, the main measures to reduce the wear of the slurry pump overflow parts are as follows: 1) Use reasonable impeller geometric parameters: In order to meet the required head and reduce wear, a larger blade inlet diameter and outlet width are selected, which reduces the relative speed at the inlet of the impeller, reduces the wear of the impeller, and prevents blockage.2) Reasonable matching of volute shell and impeller: If the shape of the slurry pump volute shell is unreasonable, it will accelerate wear. When designing, you should consider matching with the impeller. While meeting the pump performance, try to keep the liquid flow rate in the volute as small as possible, otherwise the wear will be very serious.3) Reasonable selection of materials for considering the characteristics of the medium: The service life of the slurry pump is largely related to whether the selected material is appropriate.During the material selection process, the geometry and particle size of the solid particles in the slurry should be fully considered. If the solid particles are small and have regular shapes, the particles are evenly distributed and there are no sharp sharp objects, non-metallic materials such as rubber and engineering plastics can be selected to ensure good wear resistance while also reducing costs. When the geometry of solid particles in the slurry is extremely irregular and the particle size composition is widely distributed, materials with high hardness and good wear resistance should be selected, such as hard nickel and high chromium cast iron materials, because such materials have certain advantages in resisting the wear of solid particles in the slurry.4) Adopting a reasonable anti-wear structure: Adopting a reasonable structure is an effective way to slow down the wear of the slurry pump. For example, setting up linings, thickening bushings and impellers, setting up secondary blades and secondary impellers can also reduce wear. There are three functions of cooling water in the slurry pump, namely cooling, cleaning, and lubrication and maintenance. So how to grasp the cooling water usage in the slurry pump? The cooling water usage of slurry pump is affected by the machine seal type, pump type, and pump pressure factors. Let’s talk about the rules and reasons of the influence of these three factors: 1. Mechanical seal of slurry pump. There is a mechanical seal of slurry pump. In this case, there is no need to add cooling water. Both internal flushing mechanical seals and external flushing machine seals require cooling water with a slurry pump.2. Slurry pump type factors The amount of cooling water for the slurry pump gradually increases as the pump type increases, that is, the larger the pump type, the greater the cooling water for the slurry pump.3. Slurry pump pressure factors The greater the pump pressure, the greater the cooling water used in the slurry pump, which is proportional to the pressure. In view of the above three situations, the cooling water consumption of the slurry pump is affected by the pump parameters. The specific usage reference table is too complicated and will not be listed one by one here. If you have any specific questions, please contact our customer service for you.
