What Issues Should Be Paid Attention To When Using Hot Oil Pumps?

Thermal oil pump is a special pump product used to transport high-temperature and high-pressure liquids.Since its working medium is often flammable, explosive, toxic and harmful, there are many issues that need to be paid attention to during use to ensure safe operation and normal operation of the equipment.

The following are some major issues that need to be paid attention to when using a hot oil pump:

1. Safe operation

1. Fully understand the characteristics of the medium: Before use, the operator must understand in detail the physical and chemical characteristics of the conveying medium, such as its toxicity, corrosiveness, flammability, etc., in order to take appropriate protective measures.

2. Wear protective equipment: Since the conveyed medium often has a high temperature, during operation or maintenance, operators need to wear high-temperature-resistant protective clothing, gloves and other personal protective equipment.

3. Prevent leakage: During operation, you should pay close attention to whether there is any leakage, especially the sealing part of the pump. Once a leakage is found, the pump should be stopped immediately for treatment.

2. Equipment maintenance

1. Regular inspection: Regular inspection of all parts of the pump, including bearings, shaft seals, couplings, etc., to ensure that they are in a good condition.

2. Lubrication maintenance: The bearings need to be regularly filled with grease to ensure that they are well lubricated. At the same time, check the cleanliness and oil level of the lubricant, and replace or supplement if necessary.

3. Cooling system: It will generate a lot of heat during operation, and a good cooling system is required to reduce the pump body temperature. Therefore, the cooling water or air system must be kept open and the cooling device is cleaned regularly.

3. Operation management

1. Preparation before starting: Before starting, it is necessary to ensure that the inlet and outlet valves are in the correct position, and at the same time check whether there are obstacles around the pump.

2. Slow start: When starting, the inlet and outlet valves should be opened slowly and closely observed the operation of the pump, such as pressure, temperature, vibration and noise.

3. Monitor operating parameters: During operation, the operating parameters must be continuously monitored, such as motor current, outlet pressure, pump body temperature, etc., to ensure that they work within a safe range.

4. Fault handling

1. Abnormal sound: If an abnormal sound occurs during operation of the pump, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection, which may be due to the bearing damage or foreign objects entering the pump.

2. Overheating phenomenon: If the pump body is overheated, it may be a cooling system failure or a failure inside the pump, and the cause needs to be checked and dealt with in a timely manner.

3. Inadequate flow: If the flow of the hot oil pump is insufficient, it may be that the inlet pipeline is blocked or the impeller is damaged, and it needs to be cleaned or replaced.

When using a hot oil pump, safety is always important. Therefore, operators must undergo professional training and strictly follow relevant operating procedures. At the same time, we must strengthen the daily maintenance and inspection of equipment and deal with problems in a timely manner to ensure the smooth progress of production.

Vertical vs Horizontal Slurry Pumps: Key Differences, Features, and Applications

Slurry pumps are a type of centrifugal pump designed to transport mixtures of liquid and solid particles, such as ore slurry, sand, and mud. Based on structural orientation and installation method, slurry pumps are mainly classified into vertical slurry pumps and horizontal slurry pumps.

While some believe the difference lies only in installation orientation, the reality is more nuanced. These two pump types differ significantly in structure, working conditions, maintenance, and application scenarios. This guide provides a clear, technical comparison to support proper pump selection.

How to Select the Inlet and Outlet Pipe Diameters for Slurry Pumps
This article focuses on the selection of inlet and outlet pipe diameters for slurry pumps, aiming to prevent cavitation, avoid blockage, and reduce system energy consumption. It outlines the fundamental design principle that the inlet pipe diameter shall not be smaller than the pump suction diameter, while the outlet pipe diameter shall be matched to flow rate and head requirements. By integrating slurry characteristics, pump performance parameters, and pipeline configuration, the article presents practical pipe sizing approaches and operation-based verification methods, providing technical guidance for stable and reliable slurry pumping systems.
