The main factors affecting slurry pump component wear are:
1. Slurry Concentration and Flow Rate
Under the same operating conditions, as the slurry concentration decreases—that is, the solid particle content in the slurry decreases—the scouring effect of the solid particles weakens, and the service life of the slurry pump components increases.
As the slurry flow rate increases, the number of times solid particles impact the material surface per unit time increases, increasing the amount of material loss. Therefore, an increased slurry flow rate accelerates wear of the flow components, reducing their service life.
2. Slurry pH
In addition to material loss caused by scouring by solid particles, the corrosive effect of the slurry can also contribute to material loss. The interaction between corrosion and erosion further exacerbates material loss.
Furthermore, particle size, hardness, and the angle at which particles impact the material surface also significantly influence erosion wear.
In addition to the aforementioned slurry factors, slurry pump design, material characteristics, and material hardness also have an impact.
