Causes of Insufficient Pressure in a Slurry Pump

1. Poor Exhausting of the Pump
After a slurry pump has been in operation for a period of time, air or gas may accumulate inside. If this gas is not properly vented, it can affect the pump’s performance and lead to a drop in pressure. The solution is to check whether the exhaust valve is working properly and whether there is any blockage. If a problem is found, clean or replace the valve promptly.

2. Damaged Inlet Valve
If the inlet valve of the slurry pump is damaged, it may also cause insufficient pressure. The solution is to inspect the inlet valve for any damage and replace it if necessary to restore normal pressure.

3. Slurry Concentration Too High
When the slurry being pumped has an excessively high concentration, it will negatively impact both flow rate and pressure. To resolve this, adjust the slurry concentration by reducing the solid content to improve fluidity. At the same time, check whether the delivery pipeline is clear or blocked.

4. Impeller Wear
During long-term use or in harsh operating conditions, the impeller may wear down, resulting in a pressure drop. It’s important to inspect the impeller regularly; if significant wear is detected, replace it promptly to ensure normal operation.

Conclusion
There are many possible reasons why a slurry pump might have insufficient pressure. However, with regular inspection and maintenance, most issues can be identified and resolved early. In addition to the causes mentioned above, other factors may also contribute. If problems persist, it’s best to consult professional technicians for repair and diagnostics.
