Common problems encountered during feeding of slurry pumps

When a slurry pump has a malfunctions during operation, it is essential to first identify where the problem is, only by treating the symptoms if the correct measures be taken. Generally, the following troubleshooting methods can be referenced:

1. If the volute liner is blocked by hardened deposits, measures should be taken to remove the blockage.

2. If the impeller or inlet/outlet piping is blocked, clean the impeller or piping. If the impeller is severely worn, replace it. If there is air leakage at the packing gland, tighten the packing. If the pumping height is too high or the internal resistance loss in the pipe is excessive, reduce the pumping height or minimize resistance.

3. If the shaft and packing box are not aligned, the primary causes are large manufacturing errors or improper installation. It is important to inspect the installation after assembly to ensure proper alignment. If the seal water ring is severely worn, it should be replaced with a new one. If the seal water supply pipe is blocked, seal water cannot enter the packing, causing rapid packing wear and material leakage. The blocked pipe should be cleared, and the seal water should be kept clean.
