When the rotational speed cannot be altered and the head exceeds the required system head, a cutting impeller is typically used.  

What are the regulations for cutting slurry pump impellers?

Cutting has its limits. According to relevant data, the minimum impeller diameter after cutting must not be less than 75% of the standard impeller diameter.  Otherwise, the pump's performance will undergo significant adverse changes.  

What changes occur after cutting the impeller of a slurry pump?  

1. After the impeller is cut, the flow area inside the pump casing increases, which makes the flow rate tend to increase after the impeller is cut.

2. The friction loss of the impeller disk decreases as the impeller diameter decreases, resulting in a slight improvement in pump efficiency for most low-specific-speed pumps after impeller cutting.  

3. After cutting, the blades should maintain a certain degree of overlap. The degree of blade overlap decreases with increasing specific speed, meaning that the higher the specific speed, the smaller the allowable cutting amount of the impeller diameter.
