These Two Points In The Use Of The Slurry Pump Will Get Twice The Result With Half The Effort

The start-up and operation and monitoring of the slurry pump are very important for use. Timely handling of faults can effectively avoid damage to the slurry pump and extend its service life. This is very important for users of slurry pumps. We conducted a check before starting, and it is necessary to monitor whether the operation is smooth and stable after starting. So what should we do for the start and monitoring of the slurry pump? Let’s take a look with the editor!

Starting and monitoring of slurry pump

  1. Before operation, the slurry pump should fill the pool with clean water, open the pump inlet valve, and close the pump outlet valve.

  2. Then start the pump, slowly open the outlet valve of the pump after the pump starts.

  3. At the same time, release the slurry into the pool according to the required amount.

  4. The size and speed of the pump outlet valve should be controlled by the fact that the pump does not vibrate and the motor does not exceed the rated current until the page can be stable at 0.5-1 meter above the inlet pipe.

  5. Regularly check and adjust the filler gland in time during operation.

  6. Pay attention to check the operation of the bearing and do not enter the mine. If the bearing enters the mine, it must be stopped immediately for cleaning and oil change.

  7. The bearing temperature must not exceed 75℃.

  8. If the bearing is heated, the pump can be stopped for cooling. Run again. If the heat is still severe, the machine must be shut down.

  9. Timely adjust the ore supply or water or the outlet valve of the pump. Under any circumstances, the pump is prohibited from evacuating and causing vibration of the pump.

  10. No block material is allowed to enter the pump to prevent blockage or damage the pump lining.

  11. Recharge in time according to the oil level of the pump.

  12. Check whether the water sealing pressure is normal, whether the water volume is blocked, whether the water is sufficient, and whether the water quality is clean.

  13. Check the lubricating oil level in each part, whether the oil temperature is normal, the lubricating oil must be clear, and the oil temperature must not exceed 50 degrees.

  14. Pay attention to whether the motor is working current is normal and whether the motor has abnormal noise.

Vertical vs Horizontal Slurry Pumps: Key Differences, Features, and Applications

Slurry pumps are a type of centrifugal pump designed to transport mixtures of liquid and solid particles, such as ore slurry, sand, and mud. Based on structural orientation and installation method, slurry pumps are mainly classified into vertical slurry pumps and horizontal slurry pumps.

While some believe the difference lies only in installation orientation, the reality is more nuanced. These two pump types differ significantly in structure, working conditions, maintenance, and application scenarios. This guide provides a clear, technical comparison to support proper pump selection.

How to Select the Inlet and Outlet Pipe Diameters for Slurry Pumps
This article focuses on the selection of inlet and outlet pipe diameters for slurry pumps, aiming to prevent cavitation, avoid blockage, and reduce system energy consumption. It outlines the fundamental design principle that the inlet pipe diameter shall not be smaller than the pump suction diameter, while the outlet pipe diameter shall be matched to flow rate and head requirements. By integrating slurry characteristics, pump performance parameters, and pipeline configuration, the article presents practical pipe sizing approaches and operation-based verification methods, providing technical guidance for stable and reliable slurry pumping systems.
