The Tailings Slurry Pump Suddenly Stops, And These Methods Can Be Used To Find The Cause

The main purpose of the tailings slurry pump is to convey slurry in industrial production, chemical industry, electricity, coal, mining and other industries. The slurry it processes mainly contains various solid particles, and we need to further understand its usage precautions in daily operations.

When dealing with mud with more impurities such as sludge, a filter can be installed at the water inlet to reduce the entry of impurities into the pump body, lower the possibility of blockage, and extend the service life of the slurry pump. The slurry pump should not be used for too long. If there is a backup pump, they should work in turn.

The pump shaft of the tailings slurry pump adopts a large-diameter short cantilever design, which is suitable for high power and harsh working conditions. Grease-lubricated cylindrical and conical bearings are placed in a closed cylindrical bracket, with maze-type seals at both ends to ensure the purity of grease. It has a simple structure, reliable operation and easy maintenance.

When using a slurry pump, please carefully observe the operation of the slurry pump after turning on the power supply. The slurry output should be continuous and uniform, without vibration, and no noise. A horizontal slurry pump can be used under such conditions. If it stops suddenly during operation, disconnect the power immediately and check the cause:

1. Use a multimeter to check whether the winding of the water pump motor is disconnected. A 500V megohmmeter can be used for insulation measurement. When the insulation resistance is below 0.5 megohm, the pump cannot be used.

2. Remove the filter and rotate the pump shaft to check if it is flexible. If it is not flexible, it should be adjusted before use.

3. Check whether the capacity of the fuse for the tailings slurry pump gate is appropriate. Other wires cannot be used instead of the fuse.

How to Select the Inlet and Outlet Pipe Diameters for Slurry Pumps
This article focuses on the selection of inlet and outlet pipe diameters for slurry pumps, aiming to prevent cavitation, avoid blockage, and reduce system energy consumption. It outlines the fundamental design principle that the inlet pipe diameter shall not be smaller than the pump suction diameter, while the outlet pipe diameter shall be matched to flow rate and head requirements. By integrating slurry characteristics, pump performance parameters, and pipeline configuration, the article presents practical pipe sizing approaches and operation-based verification methods, providing technical guidance for stable and reliable slurry pumping systems.
