In daily work, slurry pumps are inevitably abnormal or have other problems due to various reasons. When problems arise, being able to solve them in a timely manner at the fastest speed is the quality that every technician should have. Based on years of experience in the maintenance of slurry pumps, some common faults encountered during operation are summarized, along with their causes and solutions. The specific contents are as follows:

1. When the slurry pump fails to absorb water during operation.

This situation is generally caused by air leakage in the suction pipe or instrument of the slurry pump, or may be caused by the bottom valve of the slurry pump not being opened. When encountering such a fault, the technician must first check where the air leakage is and block it in time. Secondly, inspect the bottom valve of the slurry pump and replace it if necessary.

2. Abnormal sound inside the slurry pump, and failure to pump water.

This situation is generally due to air seeping into the slurry pump, causing abnormal sounds in the pump body. At the same time, the impeller of the slurry pump may be damaged or mixed with debris, resulting in failure to pump water. When encountering such a failure, technicians need to adjust the liquid level of the pump pool and check the impeller. If it is damaged or aging, replace it in time. In addition, clean the debris in the pump body and impeller.

3. Severe vibration of the slurry pump indicating abnormal conditions.

This failure may generally be caused by the following problems:

① The slurry pump may have cavitation.

② The pump shaft and the motor shaft are not concentric.

③ The bottom bolts of the slurry pump have loosened.

The solutions are:

① Reasonably adjust the outlet valve of the slurry pump to operate within the specified performance parameters.

② Correct the pump shaft and motor shaft to ensure they are on the same center line.

③ Check whether the bottom bolts of the slurry pump are loose and tighten them firmly.

4. Blockage of the slurry pump pipeline.

This failure is generally caused by air leakage at the inlet of the slurry pump. In addition, it may also be caused by waste in the pipeline. Solution: Check the air leakage part at the inlet of the slurry pump and block it. Secondly, check and clean the waste in the pipeline. If there is too much waste, be sure to turn off the slurry pump first and then clean it up to avoid safety problems.

5. The pressure gauge of the slurry pump shows pressure but the pump cannot produce water.

This failure may be due to incorrect rotation direction, blockage in the impeller flow channel, or insufficient rotation speed of the slurry pump. The solutions are as follows:

① Correct the rotation direction of the slurry pump motor to ensure it is correct.

② Remove the water inlet pipe joint and clean it, especially removing debris in the flow channel.

③ Increase the pump speed to the rated requirements to ensure normal operation.

6. Overheating of the pump shaft.

This fault may be caused by the following reasons:

① Insufficient lubricating oil.

② Debris entered between the shaft and the ball bearing.

③ No cooling water in the slurry pump.

④ Damaged bearing of the slurry pump.

The solutions are:

① Add lubricating oil to the slurry pump.

② Remove debris in the slurry pump.

③ Introduce cooling water into the slurry pump.

④ Replace the bearing of the slurry pump.
