(1) Light slurry pump and heavy slurry pump according to the different abrasiveness of the conveying medium, the slurry can generally be divided into strong abrasive slurry and weak abrasive slurry. If the weight concentration of the slurry is C> 20%, solid relative density S> 20, solid particles d> 0.05n boron is a strong abrasive slurry, and other weak abrasive slurry is a weak abrasive slurry. Slurry pumps that transport the above two kinds of slurry are called heavy-duty slurry pumps and light-duty slurry pumps. The conveying medium of coal washing industry belongs to weak abrasive slurry, and the suitable equipment is light slurry pump.
(2) The structural characteristics of light slurry pump and heavy slurry pump The basic structure of heavy slurry pump is double shell, with volute and front and rear pump shell, which belongs to single-stage, single-suction cantilever, horizontal, axial suction radial discharge centrifugal slurry pump. This type of pump has high manufacturing cost and complex maintenance and disassembly.

Analysis of a practical application case:
We have a mining company customer who needs to transfer tailings using our CNSME slurry pumps. Considerng that big concentration of solids and corrosive materials are contained in the medium, therefore, we CNSME chose a type of compound material with good resistance to both abrasion and corrosion for the wet end parts, and we also reduced the flow resistance through optimizing the structural design. And the final results proved that the serving life of our wet end parts was significantly extended, and the pump’s efficiency and lifting head were also increased.
The causes of tripping and motor burnout after pump startup are as follows:
1. First, check the pump's rotating parts for flexibility. If there is friction, eliminate it.
2. Measure the pump's outlet pressure and slurry specific gravity, and calculate the actual operating head. If the head is lower than the specified head, the pump's operating point is biased towards high flow. This can be addressed by reducing the pump's head by trimming the impeller or reducing the pump speed. Alternatively, control valves or other flow control components can be used to increase the pipeline head, bringing the operating point back to the specified level.
3. If the pump's operating point meets the specified parameters but the motor is still overloaded, this indicates insufficient motor power or a quality issue. The motor should be repaired or replaced. Slurry pump manufacturers specifically point out that when using a frequency converter for speed control, the power of the motor and pump at the actual operating point must be calculated.
