The under-liquid pump is a special type of centrifugal pump whose pump body is partially submerged in the liquid being conveyed. Below we will understand the liquid pump from three aspects: structural characteristics, working principle and classification of the liquid pump.
Structural characteristics of under-liquid pump
Vertical structure: Under-liquid pumps usually adopt a vertical installation method. The motor is located above the liquid surface and is connected to the pump body below through the long shaft. This structure makes the pump have a low center of gravity, good operating stability, and small footprint, which is especially suitable for use in occasions with limited space, such as small liquid reservoirs, deep wells, etc.
Immersed pump body: The pump body and impeller are directly immersed in the liquid to avoid cavitation. Because the impeller is below the liquid level, liquid can flow into the impeller naturally without additional pumping operation, easy to start, and ensure normal operation under low liquid level conditions.
Shaft sealing device: Since the pump body is under liquid, the seal between the shaft and the pump body is crucial. Common sealing forms include packing seals, mechanical seals, etc. High-quality sealing devices can effectively prevent liquid leakage, ensure normal operation of the pump, and avoid liquid leakage from contaminating the environment.
Working principle of under-liquid pump
When the motor drives the pump shaft and impeller to rotate at high speed, the liquid in the impeller is thrown towards the edge of the impeller under the action of centrifugal force, thereby obtaining velocity energy and pressure energy and being discharged through the liquid discharge port of the pump body. At the same time, a negative pressure is formed at the center of the impeller, so that the liquid is continuously sucked into the impeller from the suction tube, achieving the purpose of continuously transporting liquid. Because the pump body is always immersed in the liquid, there is no need to worry about the suction range, and the liquid can be efficiently lifted and transported to the designated position.
Classification of under-liquid pumps
Under-liquid slurry pump: mainly used to transport slurry containing solid particles, such as mine tailings, coal sludge, etc. Its overflow components (impeller, pump body, etc.) are usually made of wear-resistant materials, such as high-chromium alloy cast iron, rubber, etc., to resist the wear and corrosion of solid particles in the slurry.
Under-liquid sewage pump: used to transport liquids containing sewage and solid impurities, such as urban domestic sewage, industrial wastewater, etc. The pump has good anti-blocking performance and unique impeller design, which can allow impurities from larger particles to pass smoothly. At the same time, corrosion-resistant materials are used to prevent chemicals in the sewage from corroding the pump body.
