How it works

The slurry pump is mainly composed of impeller, pump housing, shaft seal device and other components. When the motor drives the impeller to rotate, the blades in the impeller will push the liquid to rotate. Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown towards the outer edge of the impeller, forming a certain pressure and kinetic energy, and then discharged from the outlet of the pump. At the same time, a low pressure zone is formed at the center of the impeller, so that the slurry outside is constantly sucked into the pump under the action of atmospheric pressure or other pressure sources, thereby achieving the process of continuous slag extraction.

System Settings

Suction pipe: One end of the suction pipe is connected to the inlet of the pump, and the other end goes deep into the slurry pool or other slurry source. In order to ensure that the slurry can enter the pump smoothly, the suction pipeline should be as short and straight as possible to reduce components such as elbows and valves to reduce resistance. At the same time, a filter or grille should be installed in the inlet of the suction pipe to prevent large particles from entering the pump and damaging the impeller and other components.

Pump installation height: The installation height of the pump needs to be determined based on factors such as the nature of the slurry, temperature and local atmospheric pressure. If the installation height is too high, cavitation may occur in the pump, affecting the performance and service life of the pump. Generally speaking, it is necessary to ensure that there is sufficient pressure at the inlet of the pump to ensure that the slurry can enter the pump smoothly.

Shaft seal device: The function of the shaft seal device is to prevent slurry from leaking out from the gap between the pump shaft and the pump housing. Common forms of shaft seals include packing seals, mechanical seals, etc. The packing seal is sealed by filling the shaft and pump housing with the elasticity of the filler; the mechanical seal is achieved through a pair of relatively sliding sealing surfaces, which has better sealing performance and is suitable for occasions where leakage requirements are high.

Exhaust Pipe: The exhaust pipeline transports the slurry discharged from the pump to a designated location, such as a sedimentation tank, filtration equipment or other processing equipment. The discharge pipeline should select the appropriate pipe diameter and material according to factors such as conveying distance, slurry properties, etc. to ensure that the slurry can be transported to the destination smoothly under certain pressure. At the same time, valves are usually installed on the discharge pipeline to regulate flow and pressure.

During the operation of the slurry pump, it is also necessary to regularly check the operating status of the pump, including flow rate, pressure, temperature, vibration and other parameters, as well as check whether there are leakage, wear and other problems of components such as suction pipelines, discharge pipelines and shaft sealing devices, and timely maintenance and maintenance to ensure that the slurry pump can extract slag normally and efficiently.
