Characteristics of Slurry Conveying Slurry Pump

The liquid delivered by the slurry pump usually has the following characteristics:

Characteristics of Slurry Conveying Slurry Pump 1

1. Solid particle content

1. Particle size: The size of solid particles in the slurry is widely distributed, ranging from tiny powdery particles to larger stones or ore particles. Different particle sizes vary in degree of wear on the overflow components of the slurry pump. Smaller particles may cause friction inside the pump, while larger particles may directly impact the pump's impeller and housing, causing more serious damage.

2. Particle concentration: The concentration of solid particles in the slurry is usually expressed as volume percentage or mass percentage. High concentrations of slurry require more performance on the pump because it increases the load and wear of the pump. This requires the use of specially designed high-concentration slurry pumps.

2. Chemical properties

1. Corrosiveness: Many slurries are corrosive, which may be due to the acids, alkalis, salts, or other chemicals contained therein. Corrosive slurry will cause corrosion to the pump material and reduce the service life of the pump. For example, in the chemical industry, when transporting slurry containing acidic or alkaline substances, it is necessary to choose corrosion-resistant pump materials, such as stainless steel, rubber linings or special alloys.

2. PH (pH): The pH of the slurry is also an important chemical parameter. Different pH ranges have an impact on the material selection of the pump. In acidic slurry with lower pH, acid-resistant materials need to be selected; in alkaline slurry with higher pH, alkali-resistant materials need to be selected.

III. Physical properties

1. Density: The density of the slurry is usually greater than that of water, because it contains solid particles. The density will affect the head and power requirements of the slurry pump. High-density slurry requires greater power to transport, while low-density slurry is relatively easy to transport.

2. Viscosity: The viscosity of the slurry will also affect the performance of the pump. High viscosity slurry will increase the flow resistance of the pump and reduce the flow rate and efficiency of the pump.

4. Temperature

The temperature of the slurry is also a factor that needs to be considered. High temperature slurry can affect pump seals and bearings and other components, which may lead to seal failure or bearing overheating. This requires choosing a slurry pump that can withstand high temperatures and taking corresponding cooling measures.
