The main reasons for the leakage of slurry pump filler include problems such as the filler itself, installation problems and the conveying medium for operating conditions. Lets analyze the specific reasons based on different issues.
1. The problem of filler itself
Poor filler quality. The selected filler material is inappropriate and may not withstand the pressure, temperature and friction conditions during the operation of the slurry pump. If the hardness of the filler is not sufficient, it is easy to wear, resulting in a decrease in sealing performance and leakage. The size of the filler is not standard, which may cause too large or uneven gaps between the filler and the shaft or pump housing after installation, which will affect the sealing effect.
Filler aging. After long-term use, the filler will gradually age, harden and lose its elasticity, making it impossible to effectively seal the gap between the pump shaft and the pump housing. In high temperature, high pressure or corrosive environments, the aging rate of fillers will accelerate.
2. Installation issues
Improper installation. When installing the packing, if not properly cut, incorrect installation angle, or too loose or too tight, leaks may occur. During the installation process, if the impurities, oil stains, etc. on the pump shaft and pump housing are not cleaned, it will also affect the sealing performance of the filler.
The filler box is unreasonable. The size, shape and depth of the filler box are unreasonable, which may cause the filler to be unable to be properly installed or to perform the best sealing effect.
III. Problems of operating conditions
Pump shaft wear. During the operation of the slurry pump, the pump shaft may wear due to friction, corrosion or other reasons with the filler. When the pump shaft surface is severely worn, even if the filler is installed correctly, it is difficult to achieve a good seal, resulting in leakage.
Vibration and eccentricity of the pump. If the slurry pump has a large vibration or eccentricity during operation, the sealing pressure between the filler and the pump shaft will be uneven, resulting in leakage. Vibration may also loosen the filler, further aggravating the leakage.
Medium characteristics influence. If the conveyed medium has corrosiveness, high temperature, high pressure or contains a large number of solid particles, it will have a great impact on the sealing performance of the filler. Corrosive media may corrode the filler and pump shaft, reducing the sealing effect; high-temperature media may age and harden the filler; high-pressure media may deform and extrude the filler; media containing a large amount of solid particles may wear the filler and pump shaft.
Improper operation of the slurry pump is improperly started and stopped, which may also lead to filler leakage. Quick start or stopping the pump may cause the filler to be hit hard and damage the sealing structure. During operation, if the pump flow rate, pressure and other parameters change too much, it may also affect the sealing performance of the filler.
