The Difference Between Slurry Pump and Mortar Pump

There are differences between slurry pumps and mortar pumps in the following aspects:

The Difference Between Slurry Pump and Mortar Pump 1

1. Different media are applicable

1. Slurry pump

It is mainly suitable for transporting slurries containing solid particles, such as slurry, tailings, ash slag, etc. These solid particles usually have high hardness and irregular shapes, and have a wide distribution of particle sizes. The concentration of the slurry can vary greatly, and can be adapted from low concentration to high concentration.

2. Mortar pump

Specially used for conveying mortar media, mainly a mixture of cement, sand and water. The solid particles in the mortar are relatively fine and uniform, usually mainly fine sand. For example, in construction, a mortar pump is used to transport concrete mortar, and the particle size of the sand is generally less than a few millimeters. The concentration of mortar is relatively stable and is generally within a certain ratio range. For example, the common cement mortar contains usually around 30% - 50%.

2. Different structural characteristics

1. Slurry pump

Overflow components are usually made of high-hardness and wear-resistant materials, such as high-chromium alloys, cemented carbides, etc. This is because the solid particles in the slurry have high hardness and strong wear, and they need to be able to withstand large impacts and wear. The structural design of the slurry pump is relatively sturdy and can withstand greater pressure and impact. The pump body is usually thicker to ensure stable operation in harsh working environments.

2. Mortar pump

Overflow components generally use wear-resistant rubber or special alloy materials, which not only ensure wear resistance, but also consider compatibility with mortar. Because the fine sand particles in the mortar are relatively soft, the wear degree of material is relatively small, but it is necessary to prevent the mortar from corroding and adhesion to the material. The structure of the mortar pump is usually relatively compact and has a relatively small size, making it easy to move and install at the construction site.

3. Different performance parameters

1. Slurry pump

The head is usually high, which can reach dozens of meters or even hundreds of meters. This is because the slurry needs to be transported over a long distance and altitude, such as from the bottom of the mine to the tailings bin or from the coal preparation plant to the dehydration equipment. The flow range is also relatively large, ranging from dozens of cubic meters per hour to thousands of cubic meters per hour. This depends on factors such as the concentration of the conveying medium, particle size, and conveying distance.

2. Mortar pump

The head is relatively low, usually within a few dozen meters. Because the conveying distance of mortar during construction is relatively short, it is usually not necessary to have too high heads. The flow rate is relatively small, usually between tens of cubic meters per hour and hundreds of cubic meters per hour. This is because the amount of mortar is relatively small in construction and the flow rate needs to be accurately controlled to ensure construction quality.
