Choosing between a rubber-lined slurry pump and a metal one comes down to the nature of the slurry you are pumping. Rubber linings, made from premium natural rubber compounds with special additives, provide excellent resistance to acidic and chemical attack while still delivering good abrasion resistance.
Metal pumps with high-chrome alloy wet ends are the better choice for highly abrasive, neutral or mildly alkaline slurries where maximum wear resistance is needed. The hard chrome iron used in our AH series withstands the impact of sharp particles and high-concentration slurries far better than rubber in those conditions.
Many plants handling FGD gypsum or tailings with moderate corrosiveness find that rubber-lined pumps extend service life and reduce maintenance costs compared with metal alternatives. The flexible nature of rubber also helps absorb some vibration and reduces the risk of cracking under thermal cycling.
