The high slurry temperature conveyed by the slurry pump will have an adverse impact on all aspects of the pump, reducing the performance and life of the pump, and increasing operating costs and safety risks. Therefore, in practical applications, the temperature of the ore slurry should be controlled as much as possible, or a slurry pump suitable for high-temperature working conditions should be selected, and corresponding cooling measures and maintenance methods should be taken to ensure the normal operation of the slurry pump.
1. Impact on overcurrent components
Accelerate wear. High-temperature slurry will reduce the hardness of the overflow components of the slurry pump (such as impellers, sheaths, front and rear guards, etc.), thereby aggravating the friction and wear of these components with solid particles in the slurry. Reduce corrosion resistance. For some slurry pumps made of corrosion-resistant materials, high-temperature slurry will reduce the corrosion resistance of the material.
2. Influence on sealing performance
If the seals are aging fails, the high temperature will accelerate the aging of the seals of the slurry pump (such as mechanical seals, filler seals, etc.), lose their elasticity, and lead to a decrease in sealing performance. The risk of leakage increases. Due to the decline in sealing performance, the risk of leakage of slurry pumps greatly increases during the high-temperature slurry transportation process. Leaked slurry will not only cause environmental pollution, but may also cause harm to equipment and personnel.
3. Influence on pump performance
Reduce efficiency. High-temperature slurry will reduce the fluid viscosity inside the slurry pump and increase the fluidity, which will lead to a decrease in the volumetric efficiency and hydraulic efficiency of the pump. Impacts cavitation performance. High-temperature slurry is prone to bubbles, reducing the inlet pressure of the pump, making the slurry pump more prone to cavitation. Cavitation can cause serious damage to the pump's overflow components, and it can also reduce the pump's performance and life.
4. Impact on bearings and motors
Shorten the bearing life. High-temperature slurry will transfer heat to the bearing through the pump shaft, causing the bearing temperature to rise. High temperature will deteriorate the lubricant of the bearing and lose the lubricating effect, which will lead to increased bearing wear and shorter life. Causes motor overload. When conveying high-temperature slurry, the load of the slurry pump will increase, and the motor needs to output more power to drive the pump. If the motor is insufficient or the heat dissipation is poor, overload may occur, causing the motor to burn.
