How to Determine the Wear Level of the Slurry Pump?

During the use of the slurry pump, it must be repaired and maintained regularly. Especially in the harsh working conditions, it is more likely to cause wear of the slurry pump. Below we introduce some methods to judge the wear of the slurry pump so that users can better understand the operation of the pump and take corresponding maintenance measures:

How to Determine the Wear Level of the Slurry Pump? 1

Observe the operating status: During the pump operation, pay attention to whether the vibration of the pump increases abnormally and whether the noise becomes greater. These phenomena may be caused by wear or damage to the internal parts of the pump.

Check flow and head: Check the pump flow and head regularly to make sure they are within normal range. If the flow rate or head is significantly reduced, it may be a pump problem, such as wear of the impeller or damage to the sealing ring.

Monitoring energy consumption: Calculate the power consumption of the pump to ensure it is within a reasonable range. If the power consumption is abnormally increased, it may mean that the pump efficiency is reduced and internal parts wear needs to be checked.

Check the sealing performance: Check the sealing performance of the pump to ensure there is no leakage. Wear or aging of the sealing ring can lead to leakage, which in turn affects the performance of the pump.

Check bearing temperature: Check the temperature of the bearings by a thermometer or feel to make sure they are within normal range. Overheating of the bearing may indicate that the bearing needs maintenance, such as insufficient lubrication or damage to the bearing.

Check appearance: Observe the pump body for obvious damage or corrosion, such as cracks, depressions or rough surfaces. These phenomena may cause pump performance to degrade or leak.

Monitor pressure changes: Check the pump pressure changes to make sure they are within normal range. An abnormal pressure may indicate performance problems of the pump, such as clogging or poor sealing.

Pay attention to the properties of the slurry: Monitor changes in the concentration, particle size, etc. of the slurry to ensure that they are within the allowable range. Changes in slurry properties may affect the operation of the pump, such as accelerating wear.

Listen to sound: During the pump operation, pay attention to listening to abnormal sounds, such as creaking sounds, impact sounds, etc. These sounds can be signs of failure, such as bearing damage or impeller wear.

If the above situation is found, maintenance and maintenance are usually required. If the depth of circular wear marks on the outer circumference of the shaft sleeve exceeds 0.5mm, for severely worn slurry pumps, it is recommended to replace the shaft sleeve in time to ensure the sealing of the axial seal. This can extend the service life of the pump and reduce production costs.
